Captain Jack Sparrow-Pirate Extraordinaire

Early Life-A Little about his beginnings

Jack Sparrow was the only son of Captain Teague, who is now a resident of Davy Jones Locker and the holder of the Blue Book of Rules. His parents were on a plundering mission off the coast of India, when during a terrible typhoon, Jack was born. During his early twenties, Jack was granted the title of the Pirate Lord, and given the Caribbean Sea as his domain. Most of the legends we hear about Jack are of his own design, created to build up his image as the Pirate Lord.

Appearance-Proper dress for a pirate-plus a few things added by Jack

Captain Jack dressed appropriately for a man of his station, and made a point too appear in public as befit a captain of a pirate ship, particularly his beloved “Black Pearl”. Although he managed to bring certain flamboyance to the normal attire of a pirate, his added “trinkets” made the effect his own. His everyday wardrobe consisted of linen trousers, faded undershirt, pale blue waistcoat, topped by his customary red sash tied about his torso, to stow his weapons when not in use. He covered this with a sailor’s dark knee length overcoat. His knee length boots may no longer have their original shine, but they still reveal his position of authority; as most seaman were shoeless. Around his waist is his prized possession a belt to show off his symbols of protection, a few trinkets he had picked up along the way. His long flowing hair has been in dreadlocks for so long they cannot be released for fear of the damage to his psyche it would cause. He has laced and braided little trinkets and mementos from every port he has ever entered, every girlfriend he ever had, and every adventure he ever undertook into these braids, and he is proud of the protection they provide, for Jack Sparrow is a superstitious man, as all sea- faring men are. He tops it all off with the brown tricorn he always wears and keeps as another powerful symbol of protection.

Tattoos-A Sailors Motif

Jack is like most sailors and has tattoos he wears as not only “maps” of his life but even more symbols of protection; only one is not of his choosing, the P on his right forearm-a sign of being a pirate, and a gift from his arch enemy Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company. The Sparrow flying across the setting sun tattoo means Jack has sailed the seven seas. On his back is the tattoo of a poem, Desiderata; it joins the numerous gashes and scars that are symbols of his survival of many troubled adventures.

So there we have it Captain Jack in all his glory; ready to step out of the crows nest of his sinking sloop-on his journey to reclaim the Black Pearl from his opponent Hector Barbossa. Now we will leave Jack at this point and possibly return to him at a later time to tell the tale of Captain Jack Sparrow.  Thinking of dressing like Captain Jack Sparrow?  Take a look at these great Jack Sparrow Halloween Costumes.
